What a awful story. The illustrations were beautiful but it's not worth it because the story is terrible. No one should read this book. There is no beauty in abandonment. This book emphasizes the selfishness of human beings. Family and love always comes first. If you want to go be selfish, don't have a family. Don't hurt a little girl and a man who you promised to love forever. Terrible messages.

Lois Ehlert's artwork never fails to capture the reader. For those readers out there who are particularly excited about bird watching, animals, and nature, this book is a great one! At the end of the book, there are details about each bird feature in the story. Great book to integrate with science in the classroom!
If your child has a cowlick, this book is an easy, cute read for explaining why some of us have annoying cow licks! A good laugh!
