omg this was SO CUTE!!! fake dating trope remains the superior trope IT WILL NEVER NOT HIT AND OMG THIS ONE WAS A FUCKING HIT!!!!! i really enjoyed the relationship and the characters, but tbh the third act break up ruined it a little for me. if it wasn’t bc i teared up in the epilogue (idek why i did, like nothing tear worthy happened yet i was 🥹🥹 when hearing it), so that’s the only reason it remained a high rating, bc like even if the breakup was dumb and pissed me off, the make up for it was worth it. so all in all perfectly balanced and MORE FAKE DATING ROMCOMS PLS N THX

i read one book by the author before, and didn’t love it, so j was a bit skeptical going into this one, even if i KNOW everyone is obsessed with this particular book… and wow. literally WOW. this is one of those books that reminds you why you love to read so much. why books can be life changing and alter your brain chemistry. why reading is like nothing else in the world, and why nothing will ever compare to picking up a GOOD book.
this book is simply perfection. the perfect plotting, the constant ties back to let you know that everything was always connected and everything was always about THEM. i laughed, i swooned, i sobbed. i literally don’t wanna say too much because this is one of those books you simply HAVE to experience at least once, and it will forever alter your life. wow. what an absolute masterpiece

i wanna start by saying that it breaks my heart that i didn’t enjoy this, claire wrote one of my favorite books of all time and always has incredible ace rep, so i went into this with high hopes and full belief that i’d love it. sadly, it was not the case. this is not a bad book by any means, i just never connected to the plot or characters, and that simply made the entire thing boring and too long. also, i didn’t even like the romance and it might be because i thought the love interest would be someone else, but the romance itself was boring and bland and lacked chemistry and yet was also somehow rushed and made no sense. i fully believe that if xander had been the love interest, the whole entire book would’ve transformed and start making sense and could’ve been AMAZING. sadly, that is not what we got so i was left seeing the huge potential while simply being disappointed by what i got instead.

okay, ali has consistently put out books that top the ones she had written before, but i don’t think this one managed that for me. HOWEVER, please don’t take this the wrong way, bc i absolutely LOVED it!! honestly i doubt there will ever be a book ali writes that i don’t eat up and obsess over, and again this one did NOT disappoint! i really loved scarlett and her journey and honestly i feel like she’s one of the best protagonists that ali has written so far. i can’t explain it but she had sm depth and character and honestly she was a little TOO relatable lol
what i think made this not a top fave for me is that i expected more from lukas tbh… i felt like he didn’t have as much personality as other ali mmc’s, and i just couldn’t fully connect to him? like he is the love interest but many times i felt like he was just THERE. however, some of the things he said had me fucking SCREAMING like SIR?!!! anyway, i would sell my soul to my queen ali if she asked me to, and i would 1000000% read her grocery list okay

okay first and foremost i consider simone a friend (okay, that may be a stretch but we dm about f1 so honestly WE ARE FRIENDS IN MY MIND OK!) but even if we weren’t, i knew since i first heard that an indie f1 book was getting published that this would be for me. admittedly, it has taken me WAY too long to pick it up, but sometimes, when you KNOW you’ll love something, you unknowingly make excuses to not pick it up just bc you know that once you’re done, that’s it. you will never be able to read it for the first time again. and again, i was right, bc i ate this book up, and it was very much FOR ME!
i adored all the f1 references and talk and it helped me miss it a bit less (winter break can u pls hurry up and be done so i can watch 20 millionaires driving in circles again thx), but i specially loved the love i could feel in every page. simone truly loves her characters and you can TELL. and i love them as well, so so deeply ugh. willow my sunshine girl is so relatable and amazing and the chronic illness rep was not only so on point but handled with such care and realness and importance. AND DEV MY LIL GOOFY GOLDEN RETRIEVER I WOULD DIE FOR HIM STOPPP HE IS MY PERFECT MAN!!! they are so perfect together i wanted to die, AND I AM READY TO SELL MY SOUL FOR AN ARC OF THE NEXT ONE RN. SERIOUSLY NAME THE PRICE IDC
