Red Rising by Pierce Brown
O dear God no, like usually I try and get to 100 pages but Darrows pov broke the horses back. Like... that man is insufferable
My fault for picking up a YA, knowing I'm not a huge fan. This was just, not it

My Avatar, My Self: Identity in Video Role-Playing Games by Zach Waggoner

This was very interesting, seeing how people can change depending on who they are "pretending" to be, how that applies to potential environments and so on. Plus all of the links in to other works from narratology to Verisimilitude, understanding how something appearing realistic can affect us because we distinguish it as being real.
I would say that I would have enjoyed an exploration on gender, as we are exploring changing avatars so it would have been interesting to see some commentary on that.

The premise of this book is fun, yet I found that It should have been a novella or at least chopped in half.
One of my biggest qualms was Thea, it was so obvious that everyone around her was using her and yet she didn't seem to care. She was so idiotic throughout the novel, it was downright infuriating. She cannot for the life of her take accountability for her own actions!!
Plus the girl can't have a thought of her own, as soon as Sam tells her to kill someone she does. And of course everyone's keeping secrets from her, I wouldn't trust her.
This book could have been so much better

A really fun start to a series, reminds me alot of Tokyo ghoul.
Art style is stunning and the gore and insect like beings and parts are done INCREDIBLY well
Am looking forward to continuing
Also a talking cat that sings and dances will always be a hit

An interesting start to a duology, I found that Cady lost some of her voice after the first 100 pages. Her sass went down considerably, only truly reappearing at the end.
The middle I found dragged the story out, there was too much jumping around each chapter. Probably could have been cut down 100 pages.
Overall enjoyable but ending seemed rushed, setting up the second book yet dumping alot of information
