Reading this book felt a bit like a somewhat warm hug by a new friend - one you do not know but will come to love. The story is simple, the characters all charming. More than anything, the setting of the book - the world it takes place in - made me full of longing for a good world. Considering that 'dark edgy' stories seem to hang around in every place, it felt good to read about simple hope.

Not like the other fantasy books I've read, if I'm to be honest. Strangely enough, that's part of it's charm. It's book about a coming of age, first, and magic, second. That, I think, is its biggest win.
