Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life by Bryan Lee O’Malley

Yes, I read the graphic novel (or comic book, whatever you want to call it) and I really enjoyed it. It was a short read, just a "Ima sit down and look at this," kinda thing. The virtual world of video games has an element with the story that I found amusing. I admit to seeing the movie first, which is why I was curious, but I really did like it.

Oh my God, that was epic! A perfect blend of a believable kingdom in squalor and beautifully crafted magic and mystery. Add some humor, sarcasm, passion love and death (going hand in hand), and a little unnecessary profanities (however, they were very well placed and didn't seem so bad in that setting) and you have an altogether good read. I loved it. School and work has been keeping me from reading as much as I would have liked, and I would have liked to stay up for two days straight, wired on caffeine, and read until either A) my eyes dried up and fell out or B) I finished this wonderful read. I have to get to the next few books, and soon.

This book....this fricking book....it put me through emotional turmoil. I laughed, cried, screamed at people, and everything in between. The way it started out was a little slow, I admit, and it annoyed me. Kylar wants to have sex, Elene is too prim and chaiste to admit that she wants it too. They fight, Kylar goes out in his greys, recycle, repeat. All the while they don't even care about what is happening in Cenaria. There was only one thing I was certain of throughout the entire book: Garoth Usruul is the definition of an evil sonofabitch. Everything about him disgusted me. Though I was not, nor am i, a fan of Vi's, I did cheer her on when....no spoilers, but who ever read the book should know what I'm talking about. After events pick up, there is no slowing down. The book makes up for it's slow beginning by never giving you an uneventful minute. There is always something on the horizon, new people come up and give you new perspectives, anticipation, it never ends! And then that cliffhanger is enough to make you want to scream (which I did.) All in all, read it. I can promise that you won't regret it.

I can't even begin to describe how this book was. I'm not going to say it was flawless however, because some things, I thought, could defiantly be improved on. For example, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who had questions about Logan's "sons" or Vi and Kylar. And, personally, I would have liked to see more of Uly; I loved that kid! Besides those two minor flaws, the ending....God, the ending. I was in the car and my younger brother looked at me like I was insane because I was crying my eyes out. It was so artfully beautiful and tragic and I had yet another one of my cases of inner turmoil and sadness. Even more tears came as I closed the last book shut for the last time (indefinably. For sure I'm going to read them again). I have been so absorbed in the perfectly imperfect magical and wonderful world of Midcryu that I had to mourn for a while before I could pick my next book to read. Despite being one of the most profane books I've ever read, it has earned a spot on my list of eternal books that I loved; the whole series has.
