Fantastic book, literally. The story dragged in some parts and there were just too many characters named Aureliano. Other than that, it was a beautiful story written beautifully. The ending alone carried this from a 3 star to a 4 star.

Competes with Foundation as one of the best sci-fi books I've ever read.

Slow and dull with little payoff at the end.

This book and the next accompanied my friends and I through our visit to the UK, so I will always have fond memories of it. Doesn't hurt that the book is pretty damn good.

Even better than the first. Excellent character development, masterful world-building, and the humor was much improved from the first one. Good action writing, exciting ending. Looking forward to the next book.

Short and sweet. I didn't foresee the ending, and what else could you really want out of a murder mystery novel? I thought for sure it was the butler.

Interesting stuff. I was particularly interested in the snap-judgment aspect of relationships, high-stress situations, and facial features. A bit repetitive at times.

Joe Frownercrombie's Frown trilogy was good but also very...bleak. What started as a stereotypical fantasy journey became something much darker. Game of Thrones has the gritty realism, but this series crushes dreams. No happy ending here for anyone.
