I always have the strangest reading experience with Sally Rooney, if you’re looking for a plot driven book, then this isn’t for you BUT if you want characters that make you look inwards and it’s like yourself on the page…buy it!
This is about three friends (+ felix from a dating app) in their late twenties/early thirties it’s about friendship and love and has some great commentary on the world :) Simon and Eileen 💕 love them! Alice LOVE HER but felix….felix = 👎
I did like this a lot more than normal people, maybe because it had a wonderful friendship at its Center instead of love!
It was really addicting and easy to read, the set up was good the premise interesting…BUT the ending was way too quick and the love interest is not my favourite! Also the third act conflict seemed meh - but I would recommend if u love grumpy x sunshine it’s not my favourite trope but was still a solid book!
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated
4.25
I picked this out of my ✨magical tbr box✨ And I gotta say I LOVED IT!
I read it super quickly, it was the perfect cute romance, the chapters were short, the characters loveable, the plot intriguing. I love it when characters find themselves and that exactly what our main character does.
The only reason why I give this 4.25 stars is because I predicted the big plot twist and it was sometimes a little cliche. And it ended a bit quickly. But that didn’t stop me from loving it :) I was sad that it was over to be honest!
If you want to see me draw this book from the tbr box, just go to the tbr box highlight on my profile :) @daisy.andherbooks on insta x
When reading this I was apprehensive due to the mcs mother having OCD. As someone who struggles with OCD myself, I had my fingers crossed that the disorder would be portrayed well AND IT DID! I think it highlighted the struggles of OCD without making it the whole of the mothers character and it shows how mental illness affects families as a whole, instead of just the individual. So 👏 to the author on that front.
Now, the main wlw love story was so beautiful and I think it captured the essence of first love accurately. I loved how there was a plot alongside the romance with the mc struggling to understand love, but also finding herself and what she wants to do in her life. This summer whirlwind romance made me swoon, the soul searching, the fun bucket list the characters ticked off together, the friends to lovers, the fling trope ejenejejwjej amazing.
The writing style really reminded me of Helen Hoang (and I love those books)
If you love books that are super fast paced and a queer romance, this is for you 😏
