I was excited to get a new story from Paolini and he did not disappoint. I loved this story and I could see so many themes and connections to his other works. I am very excited for more stories set in this universe.
Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist
Judith Heumann, Kristen Joiner
A wonderful memoir of the disability rights activist Judith Heumann. I was blown away by her and the power with which she fought ableism. The opportunities denied to Heumann are infuriating and the battles she won are incredible
An incredibly interesting piece of historical work. It takes a look at Marsh and through Marsh we get a look at the historical period in which she was alive. We see how the changing times affected her family
I really like the idea of doors opening on new worlds. "Exit West" took a more realistic look on this idea where as Harrow keeps it fantasy. I really enjoyed the twists and turns the story took.
This was a perfect companion piece to "Then the Fish Swallowed Him." I thought this was a truly beautiful work that had an incredible bit of magical realism. I thought that it ended really beautifully.
This was an excellent book. It had echoes of Kafka and Orwell. I enjoyed reading about the revolution from the point of view of someone who is was arrested. The ending was super emotional
I simultaneously loved and hated this book. It was absolutely absurd. It was Kaufman with out the constraints of hollywood executives. I am not convinced if this is a good or bad thing. I really enjoyed my reading experience
I really wanted to love this book. It had everything that I enjoy about novels and it was technically great. It just didn't quite click with me. I still enjoyed it, but at times I felt like it was lagging.
A deeply powerful and sad novel. Nussbaum writes about characters living in a home for disabled children, 21 and under. Nussbaum does an excellent job showing the horrors of institutionalization and the necessity of home care.
An excellent sequel to "Oryx and Crake." I enjoyed learning more about the world and I loved seeing the inside of the God's Gardeners. I thought it was over all a better and more powerful novel than "Oryx and Crake"
