Kimberly does it again! I've said it before and I will say it again, and again; Kimberly Lemmings books elicit all of the feels. Her books are witty, funny, lovingly adorable, and hot as all hell. Every time I read her books I find myself completely immersed in the story. The characters are hard not to root for and the settings are so descriptive that it feels like a movie is playing in my head. Toto was so hilarious and had me rolling laughing because I can't even with him. I also love the "take no sh*t" that eminates from the FMC's. The pining. The spice. It ALWAYS hits and this book was no different. But I'll let the book do the talking on that topic of discussion. Even when I had to put the book down I would be eager to get back to the story and the characters. This is one of my auto-buy authors because she is consistently a romance genius.
I've said it once and I will probably not stop saying it. If you have not read her books yet you are missing out.

Another five star read hot off the TBR!!! I was enthralled in the story from Chapter one. Each character had a well thought out personality. The way that Briseis's mom's love and support ALL of her is so heartwarming. This especially showed for me in the way they support her abilities and despite their worry for her well being they do not fear her or her abilities. The comedic relief from Briseis and her moms had me laughing out loud; especially the reoccurring taser. I somewhat predicted the ending, but I don't think it took anything away from the book. In a way it sort of reassured the hunch I had regarding certain characters. I will most definitely be continuing this series.

I surprised myself with this one. It was my first historical fiction. This book was so moving. I laughed, I cried, snaps for the ladies. The characters were engaging and hard to leave every time I put the book down. About a theirs of the way through the story I did not want the book to end even though I was nowhere near finishing it. As time went on every character uncovered secrets and found family in each other. The way this book highlights performative activism and how more progressive ways of activism are villainized when meet with performative activists. It also highlighted how people of color with privilege sometimes try to distance themselves from people of color who they considered to belong to a lower or different social class.

This book feels like curling up by the fire in a tavern and being told a tale from a seasoned adventurer. Fern is my favorite character off rip. The "looks like a cinnamon roll, will curse you out" vibe is primo. A close second is Satchel. He has so wholesome and it was impossible for me to dislike them. I loved the family the characters find through a shared love for books.

This book grabs your attention from the very first page and doesn't let go. While the underlying message of the story is clear from the outset, the fantasy elements and the struggle between good and evil are deeply engaging. I became emotionally invested in the characters and the unfolding narrative right from the beginning. Additionally, I appreciated how Maryse connects with her aunties, drawing strength from her fallen community and carrying their spirit with her wherever she goes.

I finished this in 24 hours and it only took that long because I had too sleep/eat at some point. The pace was medium to fast seeing as from Chapter one I was obsessed and knew that this book would be gut wrenching and emotional but in a necessary way. This book highlights the way that often times people of color's disappearances go unnoticed and under investigated. This one drew me in and has been sitting with me ever since. The writing was beautiful and the characters were hard not too root for. I will definitely be reading more of S.A. Cosby's books.

This was a very dark, mysterious, fantasy. But the YA aspect of it keeps it from being "too dark" without taking away from the erie feeling the story elicits. I really appreciated the insider view of the MMC's anxiety. I found a lot of the feelings highlighted (feeling like a burden to others, and overthinking as a result of others reactions to anxiety) were handled and presented to the audience in a very respectful and insightful manner. I also found that the inside pov of the MMC's sexuality was eye opening and unlike other LGBTQIA+ books or characters I have read before. The writing was beautiful with lines that seem to jump off the page at you. I was sort of able to guess the plot twist but the following plot twists had me gagged. The only part of the book I did not enjoy was the end. I felt that the ending was a lacking something, However, I do want to make it clear that it does not take away from the book; the ending was just not my cup of tea.
