Heartstopper Volume 3 by Alice Oseman

this is the best volume so far. i am so glad we got to be able to meet and connect with the other characters so much more than the first two volumes and that we’re finally to the point that they are out as boyfriends! i think the idea of a field trip was a perfect setting for the reader to be able to learn more about the other characters as well as bringing a new scenery and more stories into play. alice does a great job at being able to take a simple story and still make it enjoyable and worth while. not every story needs a lot of twists and turns, and that’s what i really enjoy about these heartstopper novels. i’m so happy to see nick and charlie be a healthy relationship for mlm people to look up to. i feel so represented.

every book is better than the last, i swear. one of my most favorite and accurate representations of lgbt+ teenagers and the struggles of self harm/eating disorders, oseman slowly but surely has perfected her craft with the universe she’s created in her novels. nick and charlie are brilliant and provide representation and love for lgbt+ teenagers for years to come.

a fun book especially if you enjoyed the film adaptation, but the movie being so close to the source material can actually make this series a bit boring to read on text!! i still enjoyed it just not as much as i thought i would

wonderful wonderful wonderful! three cheers for your lie in april. this manga and anime is incredible and is a beautiful showcase of love and loss, i've never been so moved or loved a series as fondly as this one. i am beyond excited to read the second book.

wow this expanded on a LOT from the first volume and has gotten a lot better! the character development that's been written through only one volume is insane. i'm so excited to see where the story goes in the next book

great sequel to the first book, looking forward to continuing the story! i will say since it's so fast paced i don't feel as much emotional attachment to the characters as i did watching the anime. but i still really enjoy it
Death Note, Vol. 1: Boredom by Takeshi Obata, Tsugumi Ohba

i genuinely love this series so much. i am not the biggest manga or anime fan, but when it comes to death note it’s my absolute favorite.

tsugumi ohba’s story and characters are so interesting, the world he has built is amazing and i see why death note has so many spin offs and has sold so many copies. this is my first time actually reading the manga, and i really enjoyed it considering i don’t read a lot of manga.

this manga is more text heavy though, and because it’s so text heavy it can take away my attention from what’s going sometimes. but overall it keeps my attention really well because of how ohba creates his world and sets up the story. if you haven’t really watched anime or read manga, definitely give death note a try because it’s a perfect beginner’s favorite.
