this books leaves a melancholic fog on your mind, especially if you — even in the slightest — relate to the lisbon girls. ehm.

the prose in this book is gorgeous. It made me seriously sit for a few seconds just to absorb it. Apparently, it's a debut novel and for that i applause, because i could never imagine to write this exquisitely for my first novel.
While i understand why it's all written from the male gaze, the perspective of the boys, i still wish there was a way to see it from the girls themselves. [enters miss sofia coppola]. i miss it, probably as a part of real connection to them.
Trip Fontaine hater club rise up!! A classic fuckboy. However, he was only the last drop. The last push.
The real villain, Mrs. Lisbon makes my blood boil. It's all her fault. Holding your daughters in their house, like prisoners, just for being teenagers and growing up is INSANE. She absolutely mentally damaged them, forbidding them from a healthy experience of adolescence and growth. I fucking hate to my core mothers like Mrs. Lisbon.
I rest my case. 👩‍⚖️.

it's true that i started reading the Hannibal books because of the NBC tv show adaptation and i am definitely biased as i formed a deep attachment to mikkelsen's hannibal 😞🎀 (i'm just a girl guys) but i will forever be a hannibal rising defender, because i honestly think that this is a good understanding of Hannibal as a person and not just as a serial cannibalistic killer.
While i know this is probably the most hated book from the series and is hated by the author himself, i seriously enjoyed it.
yes, the writing is literally telling, not showing which is usually such a turn off, but honestly — probably because of how fixated i am — it didn't bother me one bit here.
I absolutely love Mischa and Hannibal's relationship to her. I am such a sucker for sibling tropes AND it's even more heartbreaking when it's angsty/no good ending in sight.
i feel so damaged of how he lost everyone, especially Mischa.
His relationship with Lady Murasaki is weird.
anyway, the hannibal core scenes are great and not disgustingly gory, which i appreciate (and it makes sense, psychologically).

In conclusion, hannibal is just a teenage girl and i could make a three hour long video explaining every single detail, parallel, psychology and every niche thing in this book. muck. 🎀🎀.

my thoughts are so chaotic from this book.
The story, of course, is disturbing and i cannot understand how people can misinterpretated/romanticized it.

Humbert made my blood boil, made me want to bag my head against the wall — but, that's kind of his purpose.

Nabokov's writing is poetically delicious, i loved the way this was written. There are disturbing quotes in his poetic writing that just ate

the only thing — the reason it's not five stars — is that the part where they travel through US was boring me and the amount of town names etc:. we're overwhelming.

that's all 🎀
