I listened to this story as an audiobook. It was read by Tom Hanks. Again, a good companion book while walking the dog. Delightful story, not too heavy. Interesting family. Well written. TBH I may not have liked it as well if I had read it vs listened. It served a purpose for me.

Brainlessly name dropping stars and musicians. I listened while walking the dog, but didn't bother to finish.

Mentioned in Suzanne Scanlon's book, Committed, a short story about a woman's mental health issue during the 19th century. A very fast read, but quite interesting.

Reading this book made me feel smart. Recognized the non-fiction characters; scientists and mathematicians, and learned a great deal about their lives and contributions. What I believe to be the fictional stories woven in to the history of these characters helped make the book more enjoyable. Take it or leave it, it's a slow moving book, but worth the read.

As humans we experience so many levels of adversity throughout our lives. While I started reading this book to address my current situation, l was also able to apply many chapters to other situations and challenges. This is not just your average self-help book; the one we've all read over and over again. This one is highly recommended by this reader!

An intensely personal account of a young woman's experience navigating college and then hospitalization for mental illness. She references the authors and books that are crucial to her understanding of mental illness and returning to life outside the hospital. Highly recommend!
