If I could give this book 10 stars I would. I LOVED this. I read Feed Them Silence by this author and it was decent. THIS BOOK is incredible. I love the twists, the spooky atmosphere, the commentary on the queer experience and the trans experience back in the 1920s. Anything Appalachia is immediately spooky! I love love loved! this book. READ IT
I was just BORED. I can only handle so many descriptions of the surroundings and the feeling of things.

This was a good book. I was just waiting for something more exciting to happen. There were a few inconsistencies and plot holes that I noticed. Or pieces of the plot just glossed over when they could have been more fleshed out. I think this book had potential but it was just okay.

I think I would have liked the book more if I had not listened to the audiobook. Maybe its just me, but I cannot handle alot of smut being spoken outloud and some of the content was alot.

Fair warning to all who read this book - It is gross and terrifying and uncomfortable but man oh man is it good. I borrowed a copy from my library and I ate this up in 24 hours. I could not put it down. Kind of like watching a car wreck, its terrifying and uncomfy but we can't look away.
I am an avid horror fan. This book made me squeamish and want to clean my brain. I loved the not so subtle topic of trans-gender folx experiences in the UK and the cost of the lack of empathy and humanity they are treated with. This story is not for the feint of heart. But I believe it is so damn important to read. If you think you're uncomfortable reading this? Imagine how a trans person feels just living their life.
I would 100% read again. I have read Alison's previous book Tell Me I'm Worthless and while I didn't enjoy it AS much, I think Alison is an incredible writer.

This book is not for newbies of the Dark Romance genre. I have read quite a few dark romances and this one is definitely dark. I have tried to include a list of content warnings, however it is not exhaustive as there is content in the book that is not available from the provided options.

On to my actual review-
This book is wildly insane. I have learned many new things about myself whilst reading it. It is not for the feint of heart. There is fake brother/sister relations (both adopted separately) and lots of inappropriate touching between raised siblings.
That being said, I really did enjoy reading this twisted little book.
