Excuse me while I go bawl my eyes out. This was by far the most intense book I have read in years.

I was so worried this book would be a letdown after how much I enjoyed the first book. Great news-it was not! Whimsical, humorous, and intriguing, parts of it were predictable and other parts were not. It wasn't a literary masterpiece, but a fun easy read that I absolutely could not put down.

I slogged through this book. Maas really should have made it a four book series and tied everything up with the previous book. This one was just full of unnecessary complications, overblown drama, and very little plot development.

I think this one has been my favorite so far. The characters are finally making sense together and the story is moving along.
However, Arobynn's death felt hugely anticlimactic. He's so clever, highly trained, etc. etc. and yet he died quietly at the hand of his mistress. AND no one in the Assassin's Keep bothered to thoroughly investigate?

I almost didn't want to finish this book because I knew how it was going to end. However, it did provide background and motivation that was nice to get for the rest of the series.

There was nothing earth shattering for me in this book. However, it was soo refreshing and I recommend it to anyone who is in search of truth and beauty! I'm obviously neither a musician nor an author, so a lot of the specifics didn't apply to me, but the principles were encouraging to me as a creator and small business owner.
