This book will not be for everyone but holy moly it’s for me!!! I requested this book based solely on the title and it lived up to my every expectation. There is a lot going on besides killing men but it all circles back to that. I adored the influencer aspect of it because one of my favorite things is to watch influencers. Every time she mentions one of her friends she lists how many followers behind her name. I loved the dark humor in this book so much that it made killing seem funny and okay. No big deal. It’s described as a dark, hilariously twisted story and it truly is every bit of that. The character developed was on point and the twists kept coming. I guess the only part that was a stretch was her moving these bodies. I’m not sure it would have been that easy. It’s told from one POV and even the titles on each chapter was just another reason to love this book. And the ending….the ending was perfect! The creeper was definitely a surprise although if you read carefully you can see it coming. Wicked and clever are two words that come to mind to describe this book. This is Katy Brent’s first book and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. The writing in this book will draw you in and keep you there….if you like this sort of thing. This seemed to be a break from my norm and I’m so glad I got this book! Well done!
Thank you Harper 360 and NetGalley for this sneak peak! Publication date is June 14, 2023.

I didn’t go into this expecting to be impressed and I wasn’t. I couldn’t finish The Villa. This book started better for me than The Villa but it went no where. I finished it just to see what could possibly happen. I didn’t care for any of the characters and there really wasn’t much of a plot twist. The ending was unexpected so I will give it that. I’m just not sure this author is for me. I felt like I had seen a lot of hype over this book as well as The Villa but they didn’t hit the mark.

Ahhh where to start. First of all I am going to try and read Reece’s Book Club pick each month. I may not be able to commit to that if it’s a sappy romance but we shall see. I would say the book club started off strong with this book. I almost finished it in a day but I finally gave in to sleep. I caught myself saying several times what the heck is going on!?! I backtracked a couple of times. My biggest disappointment with this book was the going back and forth between present and past with no headers on the chapter. I got confused several times and it was frustrating. I will say the ending was satisfying in that all the loose ends weren’t tied up. I despise perfect endings. It’s described as a can’t put down thriller. It was hard to put down and not finish in one sitting. I needed to know what was going on but as far as a real thriller….not so much.

This is not a book I normally would choose. I don’t read a lot of horror books and while I liked this one I will say if horror is your genre this might be a little “vanilla” for you. It was creepy enough for me. I was hooked immediately because I wanted to know what the heck they were running from. The dad showed he was fiercely protective over his kids as was the older sister Dess. Stacy is so innocent and so likable and clearly has special powers. The best line of the book was, “And there was her sister, living proof that death didn’t have to be final.” This was a good haunted house read for those of us who don’t want too much horror.

Just okay. Nothing you haven’t read before but I will say it was very well written. I just got bored with it. The characters were somewhat relatable. I read it in two days so it was a quick read. There were lots of twists and secrets….but none you won’t see coming. I started my year off with 5 star reads so this fell just at mediocre.

Anger issues? It’s me! It’s me! I am that person that needs to be in that circle. Lol! I connected with Frankie from the first chapter. I loved this book in the beginning and I thought this was going to be a fun thriller! I don’t think I have ever read anything I would describe as a fun thriller but I thought this was going to be it. I also don’t think I have ever connected more with a character. It seemed light until the part about her son….then it turned deadly. It just seemed that part seemed so out of place. If we had left that part out this book would have been so much better! I still give it three books because it was an enjoyable read and I really liked Frankie.

Well I can sum this up with one word….boring. I was so excited about this book! I came close to putting it out into the universe that this was going to be one of my top reads for 2023. But no. It was a total yawn fest. Nothing about this was believable. The dialogue wasn’t even believable. The beginning started with a bang…literally and then just went no where. I have adored all of Liv Constantine’s books but this one fell short. I did finish it because I kept hoping she would redeem herself at some point.

I have wanted to read this book for awhile now and I’m glad I made it my first book of 2023. I loved it! Honestly had no clue exactly what it was about and went in blind. But it seemed like minutes went by and I was already 100 pages in. This is a very emotional book and definitely could be a trigger if you have ever lost a child. The topics are hard and you feel every emotion Blythe felt in this book. I loved that it was only told from Blythe’s perspective except for the flashbacks. At one point I was yelling at Blythe about why she was apologizing to Gemma for deceiving her about who she was! She took your husband and child! And you could feel how mean Violet was. The ending….just perfect. This book was a great read to kick off 2023.
