This is my first novella. Well I’ll be honest I never knew what a novella was before this. 😬 This is a super quick read. I finished it in a hour. I loved the underlying humor from Shelby while talking to Detective Grady. Everyone’s story is matching up perfectly…Shelby clearly knows everything that’s going on with these peoples lives. But just what the heck is going on?!? I love Samantha Downkng books and had to have this as soon as I seen it. Great little read.

I read this based solely on the influencer aspect. Oh and also because it was set in Nashville. I love reading books that take place in areas I have visited. And I also thought it would be a good book to step outside my box with. Something to read besides mystery/thriller books. It’s just not for me. I need more action. I had hoped there would be something sinister when it was described as having a “dark side.” But that said if this was my kind of genre then it would have been a really good book.

This wasn’t the book for me. There was no real background for any of the characters or their relationships with each other. It was very slow and seemed to focus more on Emily and Melinda than Marcus’s murder. It was just boring. Emily’s role felt a little far fetched…a citizen vigilante? Although if I had any part of it I liked it would be Emily’s sense of humor. I skimmed it by the end just to get through it.

WOW! Just wow! I was hooked from the first chapter no wait from the first word! Books like this is why I read! It’s what makes reading exciting! Okay let me collect myself and calm down. Insert pause. Here we go. It starts out seemingly normal. We have all been that woman that has noticed another woman who seems to have it all. Then goes home that night and stalks said woman on social media. I love watching influencers and they aren’t any different than I am. They just record their life. But I’m hooked. I want to see what they are doing just like Josie did with Alix. Speaking of influencers the only thing that I wanted to change in this book is I wanted Alix to have more than 8,000 followers on Instagram. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You can literally feel Josie’s jealously come through the pages. To me when Alix described Josie was basically all in denim and the dog matched a red flag went up! 🚩 Walter told Alix to watch out for Josie…when she doesn’t like the reality of things she finds a reality she prefers. She’s a control freak and you don’t even realize your being controlled. And the ending! My-lanta! Who is telling the truth? Who is lying? This was a masterfully woven story. There is no way they can’t turn this book into a movie. Lisa Jewell is a genius! It’s going to take a lot to beat this book for my number one pick of the year. So dang good.

I. Love. Samantha Downing. If she writes it then I am here for it! First this title couldn’t be more perfect for this book. It’s more than twisted. Wes and Ivy are a toxic couple…..that are made for each other. They love to hate each other and aren’t going to allow anyone else to have the other. It’s clearly a game that always ends up with Wes and Ivy together. With each chapter you feel like there is something you don’t know but as you read you gather all the information you need. You feel left out but trust me you get caught up. And I honestly stayed mad at Karen the whole time! You aren’t saving Ivy from anything! I was disappointed a little in that part of the story because it just kind of went away. But then there is a jaw dropping moment and that’s forgotten. I feel like you are left guessing until the end about what really happened.

I loved both of these women. I loved the gracefulness of Eleanor and the roughness of Ruby. We know this is not my kind of book but I wanted to try and read all of Reece’s Book Club books. It really was a great story and very well told. The character development was great but she didn’t bog you down with too much information. The story was told from alternating POV’s which was perfect to understand both of these women. When Ruby gave birth to Grace I cried while she sang You Are My Sunshine. I always sang that when mine was little. The ending couldn’t have been any better. This story was beautifully told and came full circle in the end.

I didn’t understand this book at all nor did I like it. I felt like the book had identity issues. At times it felt like a cute romance novel with a little bit of stalking thrown in. It’s described as a hair raising story which I promise you it is not. There was no suspense at all and I couldn’t even care who Marker Man was. The only aspect I liked in this book was the mother/daughter relationship and I really liked Honor. The chapters with Honor and her friends were really good but goodness they weren’t even the main plot of the book. And since I am being so hard on this book the title doesn’t even match the story. Sure she is being stalked but nothing about this book matched any other part. The Marker Man wasn’t even hiding he was out there in plain sight stalking as he pleased. Just a very strange book.

Meh. First of all I liked the plot. All of these writers going to a retreat and competing for a cash prize and then come to find out Roza is doing it all for herself. Great story. Just not that well told. The writing was very slow at times and I started skimming to get to the end. For some reason it felt like The Shining. Kind of. I didn’t find it scary at all or really have that much action. I didn’t find any of the characters relatable which made me speed read to finish.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023. And it was great! It invoked a lot of emotion from me which I love. Jake goes missing and is gone for several days and Nina never looked for him? I don’t care what has happened between me and my husband if he disappears I’m looking everywhere for him. Even if it’s just to yell at him more. The POV’s are are different choice. It’s told from Christian’s and Nina’s point of view. I feel like most authors would have chosen Jake and Lily but it definitely added to the story by telling it from their perspective. The author also introduces several other low key people which adds to the confusion of what happened and who done it. I got very frustrated with Lilly…..I was screaming at her to just tell him about Jake already! It seemed like it took for ever for her to tell him what happened in the woods. I love books like this….I don’t want things to go my way. I want to experience every emotion and I’ll be honest at one point I felt like I killed Jake.

This was a mediocre read. I think most mothers have felt the way that Natalie has felt and it was very relatable. But chapter after chapter it was the same thing over and over. It really takes a deep dive into postpartum and the feelings that come along with a new baby. Honestly I think it was depressing. That said the author definitely put a spin on it and the next door neighbor took advantage of her baby blues. It’s a fast easy read but there are no twists here. It’s easy to see what’s coming.
