~made me smile (0,5/0,6) yes (tho not as much as you and me on vacation) omg djfnfnj Gus was hilarious and Jan's inner monologue was the best
~got me hooked in (1/1) omg yes
~bored me (0/-0,2) nope
~writing (0,5/0,5) tbh at this point I think I'm ready to place Emily Henry as one of my favourite authors. plus the fact that it's forced proximity + small town + highschool rivals to friends to lovers and the idea of having two author's with a writer's block switch genres was rly clever
~made sense (0,6/0,6) it did, but there's wasn't anything that wouldn't make sense
~favorited (0,6/0,7) this one didn't speak to me as much as you and me on vacation but it's alr
~moved me (0,4/0,6) a bit
~surprised me (0,5/0,5) it did, when Gus told Jan he read her books aa fjfnfn, and when Pete told Jan that she's Gus' aunt i was like wait what? and then the fact that Jan's father rly did cheat on her mom, i mean thought it was all a misunderstanding and sonya was just a friend, guess i thought wrong
~characters (0,5/0,5) Augustus 'Gus' Everett, loved him. love me a "HEA's don't exist" grump. i loved how, throughout the book we were able to read about gus struggles with love due to being in a marriage that wasn't good for him and the fact that she cheated on him, ON HIS BIRTHDAY WITH ONE OF HIS PALS, was such a low blow, FUCK YOU NICOLE OR WHATEVER YOUR NAME WAS. also when Gus said “It doesn’t mean I don’t want you, January—I’ve always wanted you. It just means I also want you to be happy, and I’m scared I could never be the person who could give you that.” you could see his insecurities regarding love due to the fact that he didn't have good examples of healthy relationships throughout his life having an abusive father and having been married to Nathalie. i loved his development from "hea's are a myth" (not am actual quote but yea) to "I've never I've never met someone who is so perfectly my favorite person". also that first kiss was smth else. honorable mention "Gus touched the side of my face 'I dont need snowflakes.' He kissed me. 'As long as there's January.'. January Andrews. Now, even tho I prefer Alex over Gus, I think I prefer Jan over Poppy. idk ig she just spoke to me fjfjfjjf Jan is someone who used wrote romance books but now can't write a single word to save her life. in this book, we saw her struggles as a female writer like she said in this scene "If you swapped out all my Jessicas for Johns, do you know what you'd get? Fiction. Just fiction. Ready and willing to be read by anyone, but somehow by being a woman who writes about women, I've eliminated half the Earth's population from my potential readers, and you know what? I don't feel ashamed of that. I feel pissed. That people like you will assume my books couldn't possibly be worth your time...". the reason that led her to having a writer's block was, partially her breakup with what's-his-face, but mostly her father's death and the discovery that he was cheating on her mom. but, despite this she still believes in love and happy endings, like when she "said" "Falling's the part that takes your breath away. It's the part when you can't believe the person standing in front of you both exists and happened to wander into your path. It's supposed to make you feel lucky to be alive, exactly when and where you are." we could see that the essence was still there but she just didn't know how to express it. and it was gus who made her "whole" again.

~made me smile (0,5/0,6) sometimes. when Ishu was being sarcastic fhnfnxn and whenever Hani was sweet to Ishu loved it
~got me hooked in (1/1) yuppppp, LGBT book? count me in
~bored me (-0/-0,2) no
~writing (0,4/0,5) enjoyable and cute, tbh it made me forget I was reading also fake dating stikes again
~made sense (0,6/0,6) yes tho some of the Muslim terms had me confused but that's on me
~favorited (0,5/0,7) not rly but it was still good
~moved me (0,4/0,6) when nick flew to help Ishu when Ash reported her to the principal it made me happy fjfnfn
~surprised me (0,5/0,5) I wasn't expecting her (ishu's) parents to be such assholes like so what Nik doesn't want to continue university it's not an excuse to refuse to attend to her wedding like wtaf, also at first I kinda disliked nik but absolutely love her now jfjfjf. returning to the topic of asshole-y people, Ash and the other one whose name I forgot, they were so fucking toxic and stupid and it surprised me how fucking dumb they could be, and also I wasn't expecting Ash to report ishu for copying on a test when it was Ash who copied off of Ishu
~characters (0,5/0,5) hanishu babes jfjfnfnc. OK going with nik, she was the mvp in the whole book like, best big sister ever and the way she flew in to help ishu even knowing her parents "hated" her was so cute and amazing like jfjfjc I love her, plus her knowing about the guide and keeping her mouth shut was what made me actually love her like fjfjjf aaaa. Hani (I forgot last names so yayy) she was the cutest and I loved her, I felt sorry for her bc of her friends like they were so dismissing of her sexuality (bi) and were always saying oh you're not actually bisexual you just say u are cs is cool and trendy and they were so ignorant towards her being a Muslim that it made me sick like ugh fuck of cunts. Ishu she's been pressured by her parents to study all the time to the point of her waking up 1 hr early everyday just to study and she didn't have a social life cs of that pressure her parents put in her, her being thoughtful by picking a muslim friendly restaurant for her fake date with Hani aaaaa I love her, also the fact that she's a grump makes it even more amazing with her saying she has a rbf fjfjfjfn. ishu and nik's parents are assholes that deserve to eat shit .
