final thoughts: this book was great, and I canโt wait for the rest of the series. The side characters were so fun and that cliffhanger for the next story has me needing more!
The banter and chemistry between the MCs were so good and the story had perfect pacing. I love small town romances because the characters are so great, and everyone is so nosy which brings so much drama.
The audiobook is a dual narration by Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright, and they fit these characters perfectly. Both actors had great voices for their other characters that were easily distinguishable and not cringy. I was able to listen at regular speed without feeling like they were talking too slow and was also able to bump up the speed without issue which I think is exactly what is needed to appeal to a wide range of readers.
Canโt wait for the rest of this series and to read more from this author!

I look forward to seeing where the rest of the series goes with Nikolai- I think that will be a great book too.

This book took me a minute to get into and wrap my head around since I read it as a standalone and needed to keep reminding myself of the family tree (located at the beginning of the book). There are a LOT of characters but they each add such a unique element to the story.
I love a strong FMC who can hold her own, and Brynlee was definitely that girl. As a daughter of a MMA champion and owner of several MMA degrees/belts/whatever, there was no question that she was a badass.
Deacon was a sweet, protective MMC who knows what he wants and isnโt afraid to fight for it.
The banter had me laughing out loud and the family dynamics were so fun to read about. Iโll definitely be reading more from Bella Matthews!

While I loved the story and the spice, I felt like there was so much more to their story that we didnโt get on page. Maybe weโll see them as side characters in the series moving forward to see what happens next?

The banter, the nicknames, the push and pull, and the found family had me loving every turn of the page. The MMC Cade is a broody, broken goalie who is only soft for the FMC Gwen who is a pediatric ICU nurse who isnโt afraid to speak her mind.
The pacing was great, the storyline was intriguing, and the MCs were likable. Iโll definitely be reading more by Lexi James

final thoughts: I loved the fake dating storyline between Teddy and Cole as well as Coleโs complicated family dynamics a lot. There was a lot of tension, spice, and angst which made for a great story.
I did feel that there were a lot of subplots that detracted from the main storyline and wouldโve benefitted from having less subplots or a longer story to really get into the details of the other stories. I felt like focusing on the other aspects took away from the main romance and character development. There were loose ends that never got tied and avenues that were left unexplored for the MMCs. HOWEVER I really enjoyed what we did get! The side characters, specifically Kit and Mallory!, were so fun and added great depth to both MMCs.
