The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

I never thought I‘d go through this book this fast. One day. Wow.

I loved how easygoing and fast-paced this book was. And I‘m here to proclaim that Jeremiah is my newest book boyfriend.

Sad thing about this book is that it ends with a cliffhanger, and I need to buy the next book ASAP.

I don‘t really think Conrad and Belly are meant for each other. Honestly, I love her more with Jeremiah. But if she does end up with Conrad in the third book, it‘s also good since I can have Jeremiah (HALU HALU HALU). On a side note, I find Belly odd sometimes. I don‘t HATE her, but I don‘t really like her either. The way her brain functions sometimes makes my brain function more than it needs to. No hate to her.

Let me start off by saying that the main relationship in this story is kind of… 🤨🤨🤨. It‘s giving Mortal Instruments vibes (iykyk 🤭). Although it did get resolved towards the end, I still find it very odd for 3/4 of the book.

Relationship things aside, this book is actually very enjoyable. I expected a lot from the synopsis and readers‘ reviews, and my needs were met. It was fun and fast paced; perfect for readers who want to read something light. The world building was 👌🏻👌🏻 (though I‘d like to see more history).

I LOVE Sid‘s character, and I‘m glad he gets his own story in the sequel Under Your Spell (although I can‘t find that book anywhere because it‘s out of stock).

I also like Juno (MMC) who‘s handsome but ACTUALLY has a  solid personality!! Lana on the other hand… meh I‘m fine with her but sometimes she‘s stupid.

Also, the big supposedly "big plot twist" didn‘t feel big to me. When I got to the part it got me thinking "Oh, so that‘s that."

In conclusion: It‘s a pretty good Indonesian fantasy book. I would recommend it to people, and I‘d love to read the sequel.

(OMG IT‘S MY VERY FIRST LONG REVIEW HERE!!!!!!!!)

The Snow Queen and Other Tales by Hans Christian Andersen

i came for the snow queen and let me tell you, i should‘ve taken the ”and other tales” part more seriously. nevertheless, it was a pretty good classic; though a quarter of the book reflected on Christian values and teachings (obviously written for young readers).
