If you are a sucker for political non-fiction writings, this one is a gem for you. Orwell takes a critical stand on the English society of the 20th century and debunks the myth of sophisticated political language.
In this small essay, Orwell explores the "why" and "how" question of writing in general.

It all starts with the book "Silent Spring" and now the end of human civilization on Earth is near. The seeds of hatred towards humanity can be so strong that it could bring an end to everything.

The book portrays the evils of the Chinese cultural revolution and the naked truth of an authoritarian regime. Through the help of Physics and Astrophysics, it compels you to think beyond logic and imagine the unimaginable!

I bought this book without any prior knowledge about what is it going to be. I took it as a self help book and in a way it is. But it's much more than that.
The book gives you all the motivation you need to write your first shitty draft as a writer. With a humorous take on life, Anne Lamott helps you understand life from a broader perspective. She shows you the chaotic, messy world as it is and the hardships of being a writer but guides you home with her lively prose.
If you are an aspiring writer then you are at the right place. If you are feeling low at the moment because life has got you, then this book will lift you up.
As one of the reviews on the back cover says "A warm, generous and hilarious guide through the writer's world and its treacherous swamps."
