This might be the first time I rated a book from the flesh&fire or blood&ash series less than 4 stars. š¤
I understand, that this book was necessary for the timeline to evolve naturally which is good because it didnāt feel rushed at all. Thatās also why Iām glad it exists.
Major plot points were also resolved and given which are necessary for the blood & ash series. What wasnāt my cup of tea tho was that nothing was really happening.. most of it was playing in Seraās head.
The way it takes her until the last 200 pages to figure out sheās pregnant was just a bit annoying.. Every time she was nauseous I was screaming.
Other than that I liked it - itās like the feeling of coming home after a normal day of work. Not like going on vacation after a long week, but still good.āØ

ARC review:
Iāve received the book for a honest review. I was expecting a lot from the book and was honestly surprised that I didnāt like it as much as I wanted to.
The professor x student relationship felt unfortunately insincere from the beginning. He didnāt care really care about any consequences whatsoever. Yes, there was a short 2 chapter moment where he thought it wasnāt a good idea for them to be together, but that was over in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately it more felt like reading a fan fiction than reading a finished, edited book. Which isnāt necessarily a bad thing, since we all know and love fanfics that start with āsorry, but unfortunately English isnāt my first languageā⦠but I expected more from a book.
In the end I was fine with their relationship and the way the story went. Simon was shady from the beginning and the whole book felt like a weird professor x student version of 50 shades.
Also Tae was soooo emotionally manipulative. The whole ātouch her and you dieā trope in other books is usually my thing, but this felt cringy and awful to read.
Iām still looking forward to other books from the author, because I want to see the growth from book to book. The next one will for sure have more plot and twists that make more sense and feel less rushed. Iām excited!

Excuse me?
Why?
How is it fair that I wait for 4 (!!) books for a stupid mate bond that was clear from the first book to finally form & Elizabeth Helen do that? Why do they hate Dayton that much? Luckily we have Faron.. but I feel like bringing him back will have consequences..
One prince I somehow donāt care about anymore (despite loving him in the last book) is Ezren. Heās just annoying now.
Caspian - š„¹I love that he finally could admit and had the courage to tell her that sheās his mate. But obviously Elizabeth Helen have to destroy that too.. if this story wonāt be HEA im gonna be so mad!š
Other than that it was the first book in the series I actually enjoyed reading. The other ones I kinda read because of boredom, but this one was enjoyable.
I am also excited for Dayton x Faron x Cassian x Rosalina!

Didnāt think Iād be into reading about race car drivers⦠Guess I was wrong.
Make them gay and Iām all for it! ⨠Very cute and natural development- no miscommunication, which I loved! Found family & forced proximity. What more would you want? š„°

Well.. the mates are suddenly more and more. Surprise.
No seriously.. the plot is only 80% predictible, which is why I added a star to my otherwise two star rating. The story and everything has so much potential and I would've loved to enjoy this series. Unfortunately it just isn't my cup of tea.
I think the matecount is 3 (?) possibly 4 - an optional fifth. For one person, it's just too much. I'm al for polyamourous relationships and it does seem very natural here, but somehow the way she just talks about each of them in the same manner .. something just doesn't sit right with me.
Will read the next, just so I can have a finished story..

I'm glad I listened to the audiobook because I don't think I would've been able to read it.
Very cliche - I liked the whychoose-trope and usually like beauty and the beast retellings.
Rosalina (a mere human) has to stay in the fae world in exchange for her father being able to leave the castle and returning to the human world. Rosalina is quickly captured by the four handsome princes of the four realms of this world who live in the castle. Two of them have a ongoing relationship with each other. There's also a fifth fae who is from the "below" and seems to suck the power out of the castle with the thornes and briars he is able to wield.
So far it's all very obious and besides the fmc who is actually complex, there isn't that much to the story yet..

After the first book which was mediocre at best, I wasn't expecting a whole lot.
I liked that the polyamourus storyline was finally picking up and that the fmc figured out, that the "bad prince of thornes" isn't actually bad and just hiding his real intentions - I see an enemies to lovers story incoming.
All the characters have some type of baggage which prevents them to break their curses. So it's really just a beauty in the beast retelling times 5. I'm hoping the big war that was briefly mentioned will be the main thing of the next book..
