The story is really interesting, and deeply rooted in to reality and today technology development. And it question the importance of the body and the relationship we can have with our body in a world where it won't matter anymore. It also tackled the question of how our perception of sex and gender can affect the way we see or think human relation and social order which Victor and Ry illustrate perfectly. Victor mysterious idealist that still have integrated sexual/gender bias and Ry really challenges his ideas. Jeanette Winertson really emphasis that cis men perception of the world does not include others but at the same time sees their as a universal perception. The character of Ron Lord really embodies that idea with a lot a humour. IT'S A BEAUTIFUL LOVESTORY BESIDE ALL OF THAT.
The writing is tenderly bewitching. I love how we get to know every character but at the same time they still seemed mysterious at the beginning and we undfold slowly their personalities. The only thing was that sometimes the book was very slow. And one plus, I love that every main character (or everyone I think) was black but it wasn't the topic ( it at all a topic in the book), being black was normal, just a aspect of the characters
I could finish it. So much racism and ignorance ; He doesn't know anything about voodoo or any african regligion/spirituality he only base on racist knowledged of voodoo. and alomost every sentecne is a racist comment or he's down playing a culture and practices he doesn't even know
Très jolies couleurs, dessin attachants et une artiste exceptionnelle. Je connaissais déjà un peu la vie de Niki et son oeuvre mais cette bd me l'a fait découvrir en profondeur. J'adore.
