The Red House Mystery by A.A. Milne

This is a simplistic mystery, in the way the the reader is given all the information. It's a nice change to feel like you have a chance at solving the mystery too, as I find most mysteries intentionally put the reader off of the real facts of the case. The resolution itself isn't very shocking because I called the twist from pretty early on. But it's a pleasant novel all the same, the characters are very entertaining.

This book is a quick read; I read it in one sitting, and it’s a great one for getting over a reading slump. In fact, I usually turn to Gaiman when I’m weary of books and thinking and imagination. He gets me excited about stories again. His books are filled with so much contrast and paradox—innocence and cruelty, love and hate, the horrific and the wholesome, new and old, known and unknown—they just swallow you up. And when you read an especially inspiring or poetic sentence, he makes you feel like you thought of it yourself. It’s rather wonderful.
So yah. Read this. It’ll make you feel like a child and an ancient being all at once.
