a nice, light read for the plane on your way to LA for the first time. I enjoyed babitz’s voice and observations—really lovely, thoughtful writing on women by a woman. still a little underwhelming based on what the back cover was selling, though I should check out her fiction

not every story in this collection was a winner, but damn can ottessa moshfegh write a such a specific, fascinatingly gross character (everyone knows this by now). super readable and I think benefits from being read in succession, where you can pick up recurring motifs & devices. overall enjoyable but sometimes I wanted a bit more

mmm I loved sitting with this story and these characters. loved the prose and the dual perspective. washington is attune to intimate details and oh how he writes about food! will be thinking about mike & ben for a while
