Laura by Vera Caspary

A good classic noir detective story. Really feels like it would make a fantastic black and white movie. Full of drama, intrigue, and a weird perspective on women’s behavior (but honestly that’s pretty typical noir vibes)

Garlic & the Vampire by Bree Paulsen

So incredibly sweet, and exactly the autumn-vibe I needed to start october off on the right foot!
The Murder of Mr. Wickham by Claudia Gray

Exactly the type of low-stakes mystery I needed. It was sweet, the characters are fantastic (obvs), and it ends happily ever after
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind

This story is bizarre, chaotic, and befuddling, which is exactly what I enjoy in a novel. But for a story basically about trying to bottle the scent of human skin, it's not as gory as I thought it would be. And honestly, I kind of wanted a little bit more of the murderous skin-crawl vibe. This book mainly focused on the main character developing his skills as a perfumer, the murder comes later.
