Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I enjoyed the characters but they do not act the age that they are to me. These characters should have been twenties at least mid twenties to me.
Also being a Dutch person, reading this book in English, I feel very jumpscared by the use of Dutch. Not just Dutch but butchered Dutch at that. Some of it makes no sense or felt a little forced. I now know how all the other cultures feel when they get used in books. We suffer together.
The romance between Jesper and Wylan was a bit forced. Would have loved if that had just stayed an inside crush. Not everyone needs to date!
Other then that yea good book. I do think a bit overhyped but fine for what it is.

Another great entry.
I do feel like Essun's POV was a bit stale sometimes but that's probably because of her location in the book being mostly the same. Also sometimes this book gets a little overwhelming while explaining things.

Honestly how could this book be the stories that were to be scrapped?
These are exactly the type of stories I was looking for in this series. This is the best book in the series and somehow these weren't meant to make the cut when some way worse ones did? Wow. If I had to recommend one book from this series it's this one. Every story in this book was solid.

That first story was easy forgettable. I didn't like the main character and the ending was vague. Normally I don't mind vague since this is horror but this one was just a bit too much to the point I'm unsure what to make of it.
The second story was a lot better. The main character was a jerk but that ending makes me quite happy. It was statisfying.
The third story takes the cake that one was really solid and I enjoyed it the most out of all of them.
The first two stories just kinda didn't feel like part of the rest of the series imo. Also the Stitchwraith ending felt messy...

This book was very sweet but it felt like it was trying too much in not enough time. This is a book where I wished we didn't have Roman's POV so we were just as much in the dark as Iris. This would have given more space for the war correspondance arc cause I felt like that just didn't hit off.
We only got to see one time at the front and that's really it. I felt like we could have had more shocking reveals there but it just felt rushed. Also did not enjoy the way it ended. I would have preferred a bad end then oh her brother shows up out of no where and is a dick to her husband? I didn't like that.
Other then that it had sweet moments and some tense ones. It just didn't connect to me enough to give it 5 stars. It was fine for what it was.

I first tried this book in English and as an e-book but couldn't get into it. I was dragging myself through it and it just didn't click so I put it down again. Then I saw spotify has an audiobook in my native language so I gave it a try while doing other things.
It took me a bit to get hooked but the new format made this much more digestable. As a result I found this story to be extremely deep and full. This book is carefully set up with twists you see coming and ones I personally didn't. It all comes together in the end and it's beautiful.
It had moments I was genuinely shocked from and on the edge of my seat for. Such an interesting story to follow. You just have to push through this different format and really I would recommend people to read in their native language. I am fluent in English but it just made it so much easier on me to listen to this in Dutch.

Sometimes it feels like they add so much information that doesn't really matter into the story?
Really drags it down sometimes. As well as the use of stereotypes. First 2 stories were decent and 3rd was just not good.

This book was hell for me to get through. I normally don't take so long on a book but I just couldn't get into it.
There are in my opinions just too many pov's and plots happening. I think it would have done better with less pov's seeing as most of the time Zander and Romeria are together and Annika and Tyree one of their pov's just always fet unneeded and took me out of it a little. It didn't add anything.
That ending was rough. There is so much set up in this book just for it to end so so quickly and anticlimatically. That was so disappointing.
It also felt like there were no real stakes to me. No one really dies in it except for bad guys and two side dragons. I had hoped for something a little more treatening.
Update a month later: this book put me in a reading slump and I can't seem to push myself out.
Lowering the rating because of that even more.

The twists in this one were really good! I enjoyed the 3 stories all for what they were.
I'd say the second story was the weaker one of the bunch and the third one really surprised me with it's ending. So far I always thought Elley Cooper's stories were usually the weaker ones but I feel like this one surprised me.
