One of the most frequently banned and or challenged books. About a black queer boy growing up and sharing his experiences. An important narrative for not only him, but also for those of us that want to learn his story. The audiobook, read by the author, was full of family relationships, family dynamics, his honest experiences,  and most importantly - his truth. This book is a memoir and a manifesto. If it can help someone struggling, someone looking for representation, someone wanting to understand or be understood  - then it’s a necessary book.

Great story from a unique perspective. No tears shed, but it was a very touching story.

Ok. I picked this book up at least 3 times before finally committing to finishing it. I thought it was good, but not great. I think the screen adaptation (at least from the previews) will be well done.
