The Passion According to G.H. by Clarice Lispector
5.0
love the way Lispector writes and how she creates this stream of consciousness. she’s actually amazing. the literal definition of little plot but beautiful prose. I also have a breakdown when i accidentally kill a bug :(
Girls in Their Married Bliss by Edna O'Brien
5.0
probably my favourite of the trilogy, i will miss reading about kate and baba’s shenanigans. a deeply honest portrayal of the evils of marriage and males (probably why everyone got so pissy about this book in the 60s…). Eugene will pay for his crimes.
Voyage in the Dark by Jean Rhys
4.0
slowly making my way through Jean Rhys entire works. I read because of Dworkin’s analysis in one of her essays, but i love Rhys’ prose so badly!
Girl with Green Eyes by Edna O'Brien
4.0
so need to buy the third book immediately, i think this is one of the best portrayals of how young girls are taken advantage of by older men and the perceived ownership men have over women in their life, i love the fact this book is still centred around baba and catharine’s friendship too!
The Country Girls by Edna O'Brien

the lady who ran a book store out of her own house and made me buy was potentially a mind reader this was so good. the messiest female friendship and mr gentleman will rot in hell!
The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Dyke by Ellen Marie Bissert

i am so awful at reviewing poetry but im glad lesbian heartbreak poetry transcends the generations! “menstrual lamentation”, “sharing” , “i remember i was lonely” and “farewell” were probably my favourites.

They Never Learn by Layne Fargo
4.0
woman killing males and ending up in a relationship with a beautiful woman what more could i ask for! my only critique is the fact that even when female characters are murdering someone they are still forced to be “sexy” bring me animalistic and gut wrenching anger not wearing lingerie and red lipstick but that’s unfortunately a problem in most media…
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
5.0
Can’t believe I left Emily till last this was wild! I read an essay on the feminist themes in here before reading which definitely influenced my interpretation. The cycle of abuse shown in here is so well written and conceptualised. Finally, do NOT trust anyone who calls this a romance (Heathcliff will pay for his crimes against women)
Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi
4.0
her writing is so beautiful, heartbreaking in such a small book. wish it was longer though i would have loved to have read more about Firdaus’ life.
Witches, Witch-Hunting, and Women by Silvia Federici
4.0
reads like a very condensed version of caliban and the witch with a few more theories. I don’t read a lot of marxist feminists because they sometimes focus to much on the marxism and not enough on women’s oppression but Federici definitely has the right balance of both!
