It was just so enchanting. Historical fiction with just a hint of fantasy.

The chapters were just far too long.
Wild Asana: Animals, Yoga, and Connecting Our Practice to the Natural World by Alison Zak

Told in a collection of personal tales and factual animal information. I really liked the prompts at the end of each chapter.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
I read a few chapters and enjoyed the intent. The language and geography are far beyond my current background knowledge and made it difficult to navigate. Storytelling structure was a bit jumpy as well for someone with no previous understanding of maritime archaeology. It would probably be an awesome read for someone who has a more foundational understanding of these things.

Made it to 52%, chapter 18. I just am not feeling it right now. I would maybe pick it up from the library and quick read to the finish.

The setting of this book was the high point for me - traveling the nile, archaeological sites, 1800's Egypt. Despite the capacity for epic adventure, I just didn't feel gripped. I didn't fall in love with the characters, and the little drops of magic were breadcrumbs when I wanted the whole loaf. There was a constant layer of deceit and things the reader has yet to discover, but I wasn't blown away by any revelations.

Seriously, mermaids, fae, and aliens all in one beautiful package. The Zoey Draven story, Midnight Arrow, was five stars.

Every now and then you just need a quick, short read with tentacles.
