this is one of my ex friend/gf’s favourite books and she has gone on about how much she relates to the main character... i feel i have dodged a bullet. LOL
whilst saying this, i do also feel the urge to sedate myself and sleep forever often.

my favourites were:
- the metamorphasis (obviously)
- penal colony
- an impromptu walk
- resolutions
- walking home
- men running past
- the hunger artist
i didnt love all of them but, when there are almost 50 stories, thats a given.

the book switches perspectives constantly which makes it interesting but also quite difficult to follow. what makes it even more difficult is that sometimes bendetti will interject the fictional storyline with his own real life experiences of being exiled.
once you get the hang of whos who though, you can appreciate it. it is a very good book. very well written. very unique. but its just quite challenging, especially because theres NOTHING about it online.

its a fucked up book which made me feel a little nautious (which was only amplified by the fact i read it all on a long haul flight with a lot of turbulence)
its insane how great the narratar is at manipulating those around her. shes infuriating and so is the ending.
it was well written but i wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
