With peace and love, I read some ~dark romances~ on my day but I couldn't get behind on how badly the MMC treats the LI in this one. At first I was like 'ok, guess he's in a very traumatic situation' so maybe I can get past he throwing her at walls, pulling her by the hair and trusting behind her without any preparation</spoilers> (at this point we know consent is non existent). Then we have a scene with his 2 younger brothers fucking the FMC at the same time and it got a little bit into incest territoy IMO . For a moment there I thought we'd have a why choose situation with the brothers - I don't know if this scenario would be better or not.
But being the curious girlie I am I kept going. The maze plot with monsters was so interesting and I wanted to know what would happen - and I regret very quickly my decision. I was so mad at how the MMC just kept treating the FMC like crap non stop.
I drew the line at the scene where the MMC joins the vampire king into torturing the FMC to get the truth out of her. But hey he's an alpha and she's an omega so I guess this justify the amount of violence against women smh. Also, a few scenes later he almost got her fall down a clif just to show ~he can dominate her~
You know, I like stories with the mates and I don't mind alpha plots. A MC going after all the people who hurt the LI and torturing them??? The "touch her and you'll die" trope??? I eat this shit up. But I can't get behind when the hero is committing violence against the caracter he's supposed to love over and over again.
I'm very aware this book was not for me but I had so many feelings and needed to write them somewhere lol

The potential this book had... I was enjoying the story for the first half, the world building was very interesting and I was invested in the couple, but things took a turn - and not for the better unfortunately.
I don't know if is a me thing but the last couple of books I read I found the story pacing very weird. The couple was very sweet at the beginning with a little sprinkle of banter and the 'we can't ever be together'. But here's one my problems: the yarning was lacking. An then they started making out, got interrupted, and repeat it over and over again.
Also, we didn't really get any answers at the end? Like we got a little info dump and I still don't know what happened.
One thing I'll say tho is i liked the fact that both MCs are in their earlier 20s. It was cool to see a fae character that wasn't a hundred years old :)

This was a fun one. Mal worshiping Shannon from the start was so good. But it's very frustrating when they finally have sex and the scene kinda skipped over it. Actually, a lot of scenes were just recouting what happened to move the plot.

For the first two thirds of the book was on a high: kicking my feet in the air, having my heart torn apart, giggling, etc. I was enjoying the couple's dynamic and how Jökull treated Sunnëva and her past. I'm a sucker for 'how adorable my wife is trying to kill me' trope. I was obsessed.
But then things started to go down hill for me on the 80% mark. Every little problem was resolved so quickly and kinda easily. Is like the story peaked in the middle of the book so after that we didn't have anything that interesting left to happen. Mind you, they were in the brink of a war.
Few problems aside, this book was an epic Beauty & The Beast inspired dark fairytale and I really enjoyed.

This book had me feeling all the feels and i inhaled it in one sitting. Was very different from the other alien romances i read - we didn't have the adventure-world's ending-kiddnapping aspect. For the most part the book was just the couple talking and learning about each other while having sex, and i can't explain how sweet it was even withe the MMC's tragic past.
The conversations about sex work or "whoring" got me feeling a little bit iffy but at the end i really enjoyed the story.
