Really enjoyed how this connects some stories we read about earlier in the series. I can see how reading this first would be useful, but I liked how it was placed when I read it between heir of Fire and Queen of shadows. The connections and additional context were cool. And I finally have a full understanding of how celaena was captured. Would have been nice to understand that before.

2.5 - pretty predictable, the romance was more of a subplot. wasn’t expecting so much religious focus. definitely more of a “coming of age/self reflection” type story as opposed to a romance. was cute, but a bit young for me.
