Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I'm not a synopsis reader so idk which direction this book was going to go. I am so happy I found this book. It is so very well written. I loved Opal and granny. Honestly, I loved the entire Pruitt family. And they loved each other. It was beautiful. I also liked Mrs. Peggy and Ms. Corrine. Now I will say I teetered between liking and disliking Jimmy Earl. He seemed like a good person and although in some situations he would stand up for Opal there were other times I felt like he let things linger a little too long when he could've said something. But now Jimmy Earl's paternal family...they were the absolute worst! Didn't like them! I felt immersed in this story. I was happy at times, laughed at moments, was sad in others, was shocked by some and teared up during other moments. Rarely if ever do I cry while reading a book but I was so hurt and angry during a scene in this book. I had to put the book down and hug my husband bc I just needed some of his energy. I loved this book. I would definitely recommend it.
I believe this is my first time reading a book by this author but I'm not certain bc there are a lot of authors now who have the name "Monet" somewhere in their name. But I liked this story. It kinda leaned into the trope of good girl falls for bad guy except Keith really wasn't a bad guy. Unfortunately he was a victim of circumstance. Now Nyree is as sweet as pie. She has a huge, caring heart but is in my opinion a tad bit naive. She's forced to kinda go with the flow and appease her parents, mainly her overbearing, controlling, narcissistic mother but she finds her voice and the story goes from there. At first I didn't think I was going to like the book and considered DNF'ing the book but I honestly didn't want to find another book to read in that moment so I stuck with it. To me it kinda started off slow and was a little lackluster but it picked up. It was a decent read. I would rate it 3.75 stars. And I'm not sure if I would recommend it to anyone bc it was just ok TO ME...if you think otherwise awesome. But this is my review and how I feel.
This book is the best kind of chaos. The storyline was storylining! This book had all sorts of twist and turns. I was like "WHAT! OMG!!!!" You know the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side"? Well I was told by a nice older gentleman, a plumber, that " the grass is always greener by the septic tank" and Dinah happily chose to play in the sewage. This story is giving suspense thriller. I loved every bit of it. It was written very well. And also this is a new to me author and it will not be my last bc I am very, very impressed. This story was very different and refreshing. And can I get a Kota please? In a size medium large. 😂
I thought this book was really good. It's a lighthearted, quick, cute read. Loved all of the characters which is rare. Because I'm sure to dislike someone. The storyline to me was universal. If it wasn't something we experienced we know somebody who has.
Idk how I missed this book but whew chile...the story was story-ing! I could've never guessed the twist and turns in this book if I wanted to. This story is so well thought out, so well written and put together. I loved the characters, their stories and their overall progression through life. Well, all except a few that I won't name bc you'd just need to read it yourself and see who. I definitely would recommend this book. Its fast paced but doesn't feel rushed.
The story started kinda slow for me. It eventually picked up and held my attention. I didn't care for it as much as I did the kid's stories but its ok. And glad it was written in this order bc I'm not certain I would've gone on to read the kid's booms if I'd started with this one. I do however love Ms. Watkins books and will continue to support. This book just wasn't for me.
"Are the flaws of the main character a main focus of this book?" ABSOLUTELY‼️‼️‼️‼️ Andrew was coo-coo for cocoa puffs! Pure insanity and I LIKED it!!! This is a ntma and she has pulled me into her orbit. I had a few ppl recommended this book to me and I am so glad I listened. The story really was insane. Idek what else to say. Ya girl is befuddled. Meh...it was a quick, okay read. Thought it was in the horror genre but it wasn't. Story had potential. A lot of potential but the follow through just wasn't there sadly.

Storyline was all over the place and nowhere at all. It just wasn't cohesive at all. It just wasn't for me and that's ok.
Maybe someone else will like it. Because I know how you authors and fanatical zealots get with ya lil screenshots and posting in fan groups. In the words of Sheree Whitfield "who gon check me boo?" Everybody doesn't have to like what you like.
