Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Honestly, I don't really know what to say, I will say that this book and its predecessor are currently my favorite reads of the Year and both of these books broke my heart and made me feel more seen than ever.
Read at the recomendation of a friend, and honestly from probably the second chapter I could see why they loved it so much. There's honestly so much I could say about this work but I'll suffice it to say that I think this book will sit at the top of my favorites for a long time to come. It's certainly a fable/tale that has a lot to give.
It might be slightly skewed by the time of my life in which I read this book but this one certainly helped me to look at myself and the things I was doing that were not really in my best interests. Certainly a list of new practices for me to begin implementing in my life, and continue working on

Sunrise on the Reaping was everything I could have possibly wanted from the premise of the 2nd Quarter Quell. That being said I was constantly surprised by the cast of characters who showed up, and was utterly heartbroken as I read about the events that transpired in that arena. It was exceptionally well done and couldn't have asked for more, except for maybe my heart to be left a little more intact.
The beginnings of a tale about a character who has been mentioned countless times throughout the Shannara books. I found Galaphile to be an extremely relateable character, someone with a vision and a the passion to see it through. A character who wants to make a difference in the world he finds himself. Additionally, I'm a big fan of the other characters in the book, that I hadn't expected to find in this tale. Something about the determination and strength within Brook's female characters in his later books is something that I absolutely love as a reader. I will freely admit that this work was everything I could have hoped for and more.
I know this one has it's issues but honestly there's a lot I enjoy about this. It gets things off the ground (no pun intended) building a world, and for whatever reason I care deeply about Viole, and the start of the challenges that she and her fellow characters begin to face in this work.
