I absolutely ADORED this book. The concept was so unique and immediately had me engaged and never wanting to leave. Tressa & Meryl had such beautiful chemistry, their dialogue made me EMOTIONAL so many times. Overall, this was such a remarkable book, I truly believe everyone should read it!!

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK. 😭

As a gamer (listen nothing too intense, but i love me some Zelda & animal crossing ok), I thoroughly enjoyed the references sprinkled throughout in addition to how sexist, homophobic, and racist the gaming industry can be. Overall this was such a fantastic book.

And the romance?? Tara really said “y’all are gonna get a slow burn and you’re gonna like it”. So so good!

Just please do yourself a favorite and read this book!

“Love wasn’t always about bluster and heroics. It was also having patience during the lulls in excitement, when victory wasn’t assured.”

What a lovely historical sapphic romance!! As a Hamilton (the musical, duh) fan, I had so much fun reading this. Alyssa is such a fantastic writer, I need to read more of her books asap!

This was such a lovely way to finish the series, I’m very emotional now 😭

Ada & Wes are still my top fav, but Cam & Dusty are a REALLY close second, I love them so so much!

Wow. Wow. Wow. This was just…so beyond incredible. I honestly went into this knowing nothing and was simply blown away at not only the story and immersive writing, but at Akwaeke’s ability to weave truth and fantasy elements together in a novel that is deeply impactful and beautifully told. I also adored how queernormative this world was! Overall, I desperately need everyone to read this!!

P. S. Do NOT skip the author’s note at the end!! They go into more detail about the reality of it not being safe to return to your land that raised you, and how that inspired Somadina’s journey.

There is so much to love about this book honestly. I LOVED the late 20’s, second chance romance elements to Gemma & Celeste’s relationship, it was written so well in my opinion! I also absolutely adored the conversations and representation of being a Queer Asian woman, and all that encompasses that.

The only thing I didn’t *love*, was the alternating first & third person POV’s with their chapters, but it didn’t bother me so much that it took away from the story. It just took a bit to get used too!
