I really enjoyed this book. Even though it was long, I didn’t feel like it was dragging on in any way. I loved the academic setting and learning about the lore and history. I heard a review saying that this is an adult pretentious version of Twilight and I agree but in the best way. Excited to continue on!

This plot took a different direction than I was expecting. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I thought it was just eh-- nothing really stuck out to me. I don't have any major problems with it. Just not anything amazing or memorable.

The first story in this collection really pissed me off and made it hard to want to continue. However, I enjoyed exploring new to me authors in this anthology. I just think that the whole "what if today was your last day" theme was lost on me completely. I would like to read from some of the other authors again though so not all was lost.

I wanted to like this so much more than I actually did. There were parts that I was really into and others that felt a little difficult to get through. The story, world, and lore is actually pretty interesting and that's what kept me in it. Sometimes the MCs were definitely insufferable. It was those explosive moments throughout the book that kept me coming back for more. That cliffhanger at the end though!!! It's probably going to make me pick up the next one in the series soon.

Originally I was super excited for this until I saw reviews saying that it wasn't what it was marketed as which gave me some worry. Even though, I agreed with those reviews, I still really enjoyed this story. The only reason this isn't a 5 star is because this book made me so sad, and I read to not be sad so yeah haha. I knew that this would be an exploration of grief but as someone who had a very similar situation happen to them, it was too much at times. I had to remove myself from the story a little bit just so I wouldn't start sobbing. I am really happy that I took a chance on this book though.

I thought that this was cute and loved that it did not have the miscommunication trope (my least favorite). I did really enjoy this couple. I don't quite put my finger on the reason why I didn't just love this but it might have something to do with the fact that this is the last book in the series but the first one that I am reading haha
