i finally picked it up after a fourth try. i bought this book in 2020, preloved, very cheap, along with the third installment. it was really slow, so it's understandable when anyone would have just stopped reading it. when i say slow, it means it's reaally.. slow. but one hundred pages later (though it was still slow paced), i came to love the characters. the writer really has a way of describing the characters and mostly i think you'll find it more than the plot itself? but that way, you will love the characters... the plot in the first installment is okay, you got an interesting background story and all that but i continued reading the second book bc i wanted to see them again.

loved it.
it’s different from TSOA and that’s what I adore about this book. it is more like.. a hug than a regular book.. Circe made me feel so many things, through her journeys, I found many pieces, different pieces of her scattering.. but yet, wholly, they made her a complete Circe. Circe isn’t perfect, and yet she has been the kindest of all. her encounters with Glaucos, Hermes, Daedalus, Odysseus, Telegonus, and then there is Telemachus and his mother, Penelope.. have this.. special tints to each of them that distinguishes them for another. it’s really special. so.. yeah, this book feels more like a warm hug.

I finished this book in two days. I was tempted to finish it in one day, but I know I’d have no time to sleep but bear the despair, so I didn’t. (it was 2 in the morning)
my heart sank for Achilles and Patroclus. so much that I have no tears left to shed. their bond is beyond human power & capability, the years they have spent together are more precious and valuable than a one man soul. I love them. I love how their characters are portrayed. they are powerful because they are humans. mortals. the author’s writing style is easy to read. I left so many notes and I labeled each of them differently. Patroclus describing Achilles’ beauty, Achilles’ ways to protect Patroclus, affections to each other & grief.
I wish them well. that in another universe they live well. together.
