h o l y  s h i t. this has got to be one of the worst books i’ve ever read. maybe THE worst book i’ve ever read? how does something like this get a publishing deal? i’m so serious right now. okay so this novel deals with audrey, an ungrateful lying brat and maybe the worst example of a teenage girl i’ve ever come across in fiction. we meet her at her friend’s funeral who we find out later committed suicide because of a lie audrey told. this girl started a rumour about her friend sleeping with their father. and why would someone do that you may ask? well SHE DOESNT KNOW. SHE WAS JUST BORED. so there’s an absolutely unnecessary death. but it doesn’t stop there. audrey then goes off falling for her dead friend’s boyfriend. and of course he’s super into her as well even tho they just met at his late girlfriend’s FUNERAL. the story goes on and on and on, nothing important happens, audrey never really faces any consequences for her horrible actions and at the end it is revealed, that the boyfriend accidentally KILLED HIS EX in an argument about the rumour audrey spread. he then slit the poor girl’s wrists to make it look like a suicide. after he confesses to audrey, she’s shocked at first, but FORGIVES HIM the next second. her logical conclusion is, that they must stay together because they’re both „troubled souls“ who no one else would „get“. oh my fucking god, WHAT THE FUCK. oh, and audrey also cheats on her long term boyfriend and doesn’t give a fuck about her other friends but is simultaneously liked by everyone she meets. the worst part is, the book takes itself serious. it doesn’t even try to be some weird sort of commentary on whatever. it’s not satire. it’s intended to be a novel for teenage girls and that both enrages and scares me. thanks for coming to my ted talk. AND DO NOT READ THIS BOOK.

i‘m just gonna leave this here: this was published in 2013 and it shows…not in the best way… (also i stumbled upon quite a few typos which is never a good sign)
