Set in the ancient city of Pompeii, Amara is part of the “wolf den” or the town brothel. She was sold into slavery by her mother that desperately needed money after her father dies. Unlike her other friends in the brothel, her spirit is not broken. Amara is determined to find her own freedom again, but at what cost?
So, I think the major thing I enjoyed was the balance between feminism and traditional society standards. Amara understands her place in the world and wants to fight it but she also understands that she needs to use what she has-Men.
I enjoyed the characters a lot- I feel like the women especially had a lot of depth to them that you don’t normally find. Amara specifically felt as though she had more depth than normal main characters we see. In my opinion, I think the trauma of the brothel women is also written very very well.
I absolutely loved the world building/setting. The author paints a beautiful picture of ancient Pompeii. Especially the festival scenes.
I think you will enjoy this book if your in to ancient mythology in general as well as feminist themes.

Celia and Marco have been preparing their whole lives for this competition. They have no idea what this competition is, just that they must win. Next thing you know they have been thrown into a magical circus constantly competing for the title of winner. But little do they know, they were going to fall hopelessly in love with each other.
First off, the world building was amazing. The diction the author uses paints a beautiful picture. One that keeps pulling the reader in deeper and deeper. The magic system was freakin perfect. Truly well written, you can truly tell the author put a lot of thought into it.
The romance was beautifully written, seriously I haven’t felt this attached to a book couple in years(probably since I read TOG).
I cannot tell you how amazing the plot is-extremely well written. The way all the timelines wrap up perfectly(chef’s kiss) I loved the ending, seriously. The student outdoes the master. Truthfully, I think I like this novel more than carnival….
Honestly, no complaints just go pick the book up and read it already.

So, as much as any girl, I hated twilight. Vampires and High school for me don’t mix- as someone in highschool, but this book surprised me, in such a good way.
First off, can we talk about the disability representation? It was actually very realistic(and that’s something I can say from personal experience) and it was a good representation of what Type One is as a disease. Typically when authors write about this disease, it’s written with stereotypes and such and this was one of two books I have ever read that I have seen it written correctly. Hats off to the author. 🎩
I love how the use of vampires were different than what we typically see.
The characters felt fully flushed out and had their own identity’s.
My favorite thing though was the reverse grump sunshine trope-and the fact that the author didn’t try to make the main character “Not Like Other Girls” which really makes the book stand out against other vampire books…..
The whole climax build up? Felt a little unnecessary, and also felt like some unnecessary social commentary on high-school relationships was also present.

When she arrives she learns that their are more secrets than answers. When the truth is finally revealed, and her fiancé now taken away from her, it is now up to Astrid to find her way back to him.
First off, I truly think anyone who DIDN’T enjoy ACOTAR or a Curse So Dark and Lonely will like this book. The plot is more thought out and the characters definitely more likable.
I also loved the little adorable(although if you called him that he would probably peck your ear off) sidekick bird. It definitely brings back some of that “Disney Princess” vibes back into the story
Now, I will say, I do think it needs alittle more world building. Yes, magical animals do exist in this magical outside world, but how does that correlate with the real world?
My other thing is the romance doesn’t seem believable. It feels forced. Like it is destiny or something for this person to fall in love with this guy.
I do honestly think it’s a decent read though!

So let me start off by saying, this cover reeled me in. Look how cute it is!!!!!!!!(Side Note-Why is she only wearing one shoe??? It doesn’t fit what happens in the book at all….)Then I opened the book…. and boy I didn’t know what I was getting into…
Basically, Our main character, Delilah meets a heiress in the bathroom on the way from a job interview and next thing you know, she gets to play heiress for the summer! Little does she know, the heiress’s rival CEO wants to get to know her a little better than expecting-With something a little more close to home.
So, I’m going to talk about the plot for bit. First off, I know this is suppose to be a fairytale retelling but I don’t honestly get how it is one other than the first few chapters…. Other than that it stands completely on its own as it’s own story.

I also love how the book hit its climax and but not everything was resolved until about 7 chapters later-It makes the book more realistic(It honestly my number one complaint with that of romcoms, I WANT THE ANGST not just a sappy little make-up)
Honestly I think if you liked The Dreamland Series by Laura Asher? You should pick this one up!
