That audiobook was SO fun & predominately a 5⭐️ reading experience!!!! I do think some moments felt quite cringe, and the reveal felt pretty anticlimactic so that lowered my rating a bit, but this was fricken fun & I’ll definitely be continuing

Not me finishing two audiobooks today???? (Who am I!!!!)

I was very pleased to discover this audiobook was available on Hoopla, so I didn’t have to wait a month for my Spotify listening hours to reset 😁😁😁, but anyways:

This book is SO! FUCKING! GOOD!!!

An incredibly accessible nonfiction read which breaks down:
- Israel’s history/modern implementation of ecocide against Palestinians
- reading & libraries as a tool of resistance and education in the face of violent occupation
- lived experience of Palestinians
- Palestinian poetry, culture etc
- possible solutions/outcomes for the future of Palestine
- language as a tool of genocide: aka, breaking down how we talk about Gaza, Palestinians, and their future & how wording matters.

That ending was so much at once I ended up relistening to the last like 2 hours because my brain just could not compute it lmao. This was fun & I love these audiobooks!! I do think similarly to the first one that the reveal didn’t feel all that satisfying, but there were aspects of it that were really good. I’m interested to see what happens in the last one 🤔🤔

This was cute! Trans identity was represented so nicely in this & I loved how fast moving the plot was for the most part. I remember thinking pride and prejudice really dragged at parts, and this seemed to focus more on the highlights and big moments which i appreciated a lot! My only beef is I felt myself struggling with suspending my disbelief a lot with some of the societal constraints, it was a confusing concoction of modern progressive-ness/modern homophobia & transphobia, and then 18th-19th misogyny/homophobia/transphobia that didn’t always make sense and I found that aspect taking me out of it sometimes, but also hey I love myself a queer/trans reclamation of a story/time period so I’m not all that mad about it

I really genuinely get why people are loving this, & i’m soooooo disappointed that I wasn’t. This is the most howl’s moving castle-esque book I’ve come across this far, and that dynamic as well as the Slavic vibes were so very lovely. My problem was I did not vibe with the writing style

Went into this expecting Ethel Cain vibes and was hit in the face with quirky camp
