I didn’t have any high expectations especially after reading Queenie. And I’m glad.

I would’ve liked to know more about Cyril Pennington who I thought would be the main character but turns out isn’t really.

We then get to know his 5 estranged kids through his daughter, Dimple’s POV which I thought was so random. I found her character unbearable, annoying and extremely naive which made reading the book that much hard. The Kyron storyline was super unrealistic but interesting however it got to a point when it kinda stopped because other storylines were being developed, as though events can’t take place simultaneously.

The storylines IMO didn’t really grow and there wasn’t much character developed. Not for me!

I didn’t like the main character Ifiok, at the start or even throughout the book. He came across as stuck up and rude 😂

Isong is a talented writer, in the sense that News at Noon was extremely informative (regarding the social economic status of Nigeria, their culture and idioms) without being overbearing.
The story line was easy to follow but lacked depth in some areas.

A cute but kind of predictable ending nevertheless.

I would recommend if you’re looking for a filler book!

Hayley uses her wisdom to interlink the alphabet with helpful tips to become a successful student.

Would recommend for teens and young adults who need a bit of inspiration getting through the academic year!

Just as much informative as it is entertaining (I’m sure isn’t the aim). I learned so many things about the life of a Junior Doctor, their daily struggles, the system they’re a part of and ultimately what led the author to leave his career.

Great read. Highly recommend
