This was really good. Definitely a step up from the last book. The plot was great. Their back stories were interesting and the push and pull here really made sense. I enjoyed this one a lot.

I already know my ass is going to be in a reading slump after this one. So fucking deeply romantic. I just loved these two so much. I wished this had been dual POV but even still this was incredible. I laughed, I cried, I swooned...just yes. This is what I've been looking for here. I loved this so much. I think this might be a top read for the year. I already can't wait to read it again. Still crying! 😭

I just don't feel like I should finish this. The hints of racism just kept popping up and I yeah..hmm

This was mid. I didn't love the romance. The storyline was definitely interesting. I just don't have much of anything to say here. Sex was hot lol.

This wasn't very good. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen and it didn't. This was a very standard and boring mafia book. I may try the second book and see if maybe the first one is just a hiccup. But so far not loving this author...

Well written as always and a thought provoking examination of how we got to Trump and the deeply ingrained systems that have stunted black Americans. Yeah. It was great. I also feel slightly invigorated too. Sad but also hopeful.

This was uh quite the time. I feel like I spent the first 30% of this book slogging through but also tentatively interested to see where the story would go here. I was completely enraptured by the plot as soon as Bunny and Bones got separated from the rest of the group and that is really what had me running to the end of this book. I guess a little bit of mystery (but it wasn't really a mystery - I saw the twist coming from a mile away) and action really worked for me. I do think the romance was lacking and that the last maybe 20% of the book felt rushed and not plotted quite as well. This really is sort of a love triangle and I think we could have done with more about Bunny's past relationship. I didn't hate it lol.

I have really mixed feelings about this book. I enjoy a lot of the last 15% of the book and also spent so much of the middle annoyed and frustrated with Ro's story. Tyler was scum and he lasted for what felt like was too long. Maybe that's was purposeful to show how wrapped up in a toxic abusive relationship can feel just completely consuming and overwhelming but it made it difficult for me to understand Ro at times. She seemed to have a good friend who point out her ex's shortcomings and she had a seemingly loving family to support her but still she couldn't let that massive dick go. I loved little Matty. It was very easy to connect to him personally and I enjoyed watching him grow. Overall boring, repetitive and annoying at times. But also a lovely story of two slightly messed up people falling in love. I root for them. I think I need to start skipping epilogues tho...they don't add anything for me anymore.

Also felt like the smut scenes in this were cringe at times. The good girl felt off here.

I could have finished this but I just didn't feel compelled to pick it up again so my doubts are high and it's a big commitment of time.
