A fascinating listen/read. Bruchac is officially one of my favorite authors after this one. A fascinating and personal account of Thorpe’s life, at no point was I bored.

It gets three stars because it’s The Secret Garden, the illustrations are pretty.

Compelling. Thought-provoking. What happens when all humanity is stripped away?

Another heart wrenching novel from Glasgow. I liked it, but I also hated it. Our MC, Bella, is a thoroughly modern girl with modern problems who is self-medicating with the one of the oldest “drugs” in human history. I hated how mean everyone is to her/“the addict”. I think it’s this callous, hyper-individualism that the creates social pressures that are the root cause of addiction. Where is the community? The social supports? Overall the MC is easy to resonate with, and I wanted the best for her throughout the story.

Feehan has an interesting world that she's created with this book. Initially I was intrigued by the idea that the vampires aren't able to feel emotions, see colors, etc. until they meet their mate. I think this could have been better explained. For me, the writing style felt very suface. I wanted to know more of the backstory for each character more than I wanted an 8th sex scene. lol Overall it was...not the worst vampire romance I've ever read.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this book. The setting was interesting and enjoyed reading about Juniper. To be honest, I was annoyed with Wise Child for almost the entire book. She tries to leave Juniper twice and blabs to the priest about their witch craft! Finding out there is a prequel that details Juniper’s childhood was great, I will be reading that.
