Too many other books on my TBR list. Needed to return it to the library, but I would like to attempt another read at another time.

5/5. I picked this book up at the thrift store having no prior knowledge on the subject or author. Maude Martha was a beautiful, unflinching snapshot into life as a black woman in the early 20th century. I couldn’t put the book down.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. The FMC was lovable and the plot/trope was fun.

This was a really interesting story to read. As soon as I picked it up I couldn’t put it down until I finished. Definitely going to read the 2nd & 3rd books. Very much a slow burn.

Not as good as the first. Still incredibly interesting, and I’ll definitely be reading the third.

Reading this felt like reading a love letter to Oklahoma. It included so much information, laid out in a cohesive manner, that I’ve always wanted to know about my local region. Highly recommend!

As far as monster romance goes Hazelwood does a great job of staying away from many of the cliché writing devices. The MC here is actually funny and the author does a good job of making her feel multidimensional.
