I love Sarah J. Maas’ stories, I do not think she is the best writers out there but I can’t get enough of her characters. I was happy to have a break from the Freya and Rysand story line, not because I did get attached but I was a little sick of the perfect couple vibes. Nesta is a breath of fresh air in YA and New adult fantasy, she’s not like the other FMC (LOL), but really, she brings a darker side to the YA and New Adult fantasy female heroine which I feel is desperately needed. Not everyone can move on from trauma because they found the right guy or are now immortal.

I believe that this book was just not for me. I liked the idea of the story but I wasn’t emotionally invested in the characters. This maybe a plot driven book, however, I look for strong characters in my fantasy novels, and if I cannot get that I want romance, this book lacked both.
