Ok so where do I begin with this god forsaken book. I absolutely adore the shadowhunter world Cassandra Clare created, and subsequently, I fall so deeply in love with every character she creates. I went through this book loving most of the characters ( the exclusion being Scarsbury). I even enjoyed Jon Cartwright .
The stories being told to Simon were great, and I fangirled a lot at the Magnus and Alec adopting a baby novella, it made me cry.
Out of all the newly introduced characters you meet through the book, George Lovelace was my favourite; right from the start I loved him. He was my beautiful, pure little bean who cried over dead rats and liked one direction.
And he died.
It was such a pointless death in my eyes. He was the only one to die while ascending, and for what? So Simon could choose his shadowhunter name. Yeah it was touching when he chose Lovelace, but still, George didn't deserve to die in so much pain. He was meant to live a long happy life proving to everyone that lovelaces aren't quitters.
I do think that now that Simon is a Lovelace, he can start a legacy. I don't think he would ever let George's name be forgotten, and I do like that now he is a ghost all no with jessamine, possibly haunting the London institute.
Overall it was a brilliant book, and the only thing I would change was to make sure George didn't die.
