They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera

This is an incredibly raw and emotionally draining read. I really enjoyed the writing style, it was natural and casual and the whole narrative made the story personal and realistic. It’s amazing how he managed to make such likeable and developed characters in such a short space of time. I was completely invested in the characters and rooting with all my heart for them. I love Mateo and Rufus and I would go to the ends of the earth for these two.

It was hard to read for me. It’s a very dark book that focuses on a lot of difficult topics, which is great to see in a YA book. The story is soul shattering, more so than other books (that weren’t about a dog) have been for me. I genuinely don’t think I could read another Adam Silvera book that features death after this. Though, weirdly, I absolutely want to re-read this story. It’s inspiring in a very terrifying way. Rather than a gentle reminder to appreciate life, it feels like a punch to the face with someone shouting at you to get your ass in gear. I think this is a very important YA book and I think it’s one that will stick in my memory for many years.

I love the innocence and inspiration of this book. I loved coming back to Middle-earth and the characters are my absolute favourite. I'll never stop fawning over Thranduil. Ever. Never.

I will forever be in love with Middle-earth and the story of Frodo. Favourite fantasy story of all time.

I loved this! After being a bit disappointed by The Dream Thieves, I'm so glad this book goes back to the feel of The Raven Boys. The characters are all so amazing and I loved their development. I also loved how the story progressed and I'm excited to read the finale! I have pretty high expectations for the last book after reading this. I'm really enjoying the magic system, the plot, all the Welsh influences; there is just so much to love in this series. Stiefvater's descriptions of weather and scenery were also excellent in this book, it made me miss autumn so much. I'm tempted to reread this series during that time of the year!

Oh man, that was AWESOME.
Such a great concept. I loved the world, the cities, the monsters, it was all so interesting. The characters were great as well, which is something I've come to expect from Schwab. She's excellent at writing grey characters and I loved both August and Leo. This is the first book in a long time that I couldn't put down. I wanted to know what happened next and it captured my attention for the entire journey. I can't wait to see how the story and, potentially, world will expand in the next book!

Great sequel, loved the characters. Garber's writing has definitely improved from the first book and I think she did a great job of progressing with the story. It was completely predictable, and I'm a bit sad that we saw hardly any of the Caraval game like in the first book, but it was still fun and engaging without. Can't wait to read the last book in the trilogy!

One of the best books I've read this year.
Abercrombie has created some spectacular characters. The story is slow in this first book, still very much building up into something larger plot wise, but the characters made every second of it enjoyable. I loved that all the characters are grey, it's always fun when your emotions switch from empathy to hatred over a bad guy. The writing was excellent, with great humour and violence that made me want to shrivel up into a ball. It loved it! Sand Dan Glokta is also a contender for a new all-time-favourite book character. I can't wait to get into the next book in the trilogy.
