A lot of the same issues I had with Children of Dune but 100 pages longer. God Emperor started off good and the concept was really interesting but it was just so repetitive and was missing the magic of the first two books that made them so good.

This is an extremely dense book that I feel I've only scratched the surface of and I could see myself rereading this in the future. While this is true reading this book wasn't the most enjoyable experience. While I felt that the sections dedicated to 'The Navidson Record" were some of the most unsettling, experimental, and engrossing pieces of literature I have read, the sections centering Johnny Truant I found excruciating to read and did not care for at all (except for a few moments) and reminded me of books such as Choke and American Psycho which I hated. In short House of Leaves is at some points thrilling and disturbing but also frustrating, boring, and painful at others.

"This book is not for you"
