Good start, keen to see where it goes as the story is promising. Definitely issues w pacing though, and the writing isn’t as strong as other works by James. Will hold off on judgement until a few more books in.

Cute but a little simple for me, and too short.

I rlly just had an unabashedly good time reading this lol. There were issues w the writing sure, and it was hella cliche but sue me; I loved the werewolf fics on wattpad/ao3 and I clearly love them here too. Just a great time.

Physically cannot bring myself to rate this higher bc so much of the book made me curl into myself cringing. The narrator/character interactions were so whack, as was the candy cane scene?!?!?! Also just so many stupid decisions that felt so unrealistic.
But at the end of the day I did finish it and was at least entertained by my distaste lmao. There were some sweet moments sprinkled in there but yeah honestly just not for me.

This was good, just not great. I loved that it was messy and that characters made mistakes, but they weren’t well fleshed out and little motivation was explained. The story overall just felt a little superficial for me.

My goodness this was perfection. The art is stunning, the pacing was fantastic, and the story was so compelling. Each of the characters felt so real and so fleshed out, which is a remarkable feat for a short graphic novel. I absolutely fell in love with watching these characters grow, learn, and fall in love themselves, and felt so emotional seeing queer representation in a regency setting. Just gorgeous.

I lowkey struggle with rating this book. It was incredibly thought provoking and fantastic to see such representation, and hear about lived experiences from ace people.
However, I did think that it could have been cut down/edited some more. I found myself having to reread portions to sink into what the author was saying, and other moments felt repetitive at best and at worst redundant.
I do see the need to overly explain things, particularly when addressing an allo target audience (although other times it felt like the audience was aces??) as you assume a blank slate of knowledge and aim to provide caveats to totally encapsulate meaning. Unfortunately it made this read more difficult to get through than I would like.
But!!! I was presented with some new lenses to think through, and ways to think about life and relationships, and I did find that very compelling.
TLDR; I would recommend to those interested in gender, sexuality and/or sociology as it presents some interesting discussions, but definitely be prepared for a drier read in some parts.

I had a lot of fun reading this!! Super cute, the banter was slay (or sleigh) and yeah definitely enjoyable!
Only thing is they’re pretty obsessed w each other from the get go lol but imo it was pretty natural so it didn’t bother me like it usually would.

Ok so this was a little weirdly paced, and a little cringy in some moments but overall had such a fun time reading this.
It was so funny, the internal monologues were hilarious, and the banter between the two main characters was great. The spicy scenes were also very well done.
Towards the end it starts lowkey changing the plot but it was engaging still, just felt a little random.
Wish I could access the audiobook bc I’ve heard snippets and it sounds amazing haha, but even just reading it, it was very entertaining.
