It was okay, I just couldn't get into anything except the love story part... and that part sucked.

There were one or two stories near the beginning that fell flat for me, but ALL the stories in the middle are excellent. Good old fashioned Stephen King, from his earlier days. I really liked Strawberry Spring and They Always Come Back.

Good, except the actual plot about the murder took up only about 50 pages of this 300 page novel. But it was still plenty creepy in Stephen King's own special way, even if the wrap-up to the "mystery" came about fairly abruptly.

The plot seemed to twist and turn in illogical ways to me, but it was tied up nicely at the end. Not my favorite Agatha Christie mystery but I like how much the characters kept wanting the murder to be a "sex crime". It was kind of hilarious how hard they were trying to sensationalize it just because it was a young girl who had been killed. So as always, Christie delivers not only on the mystery front but also in the satire/dark comedy category as well.

Wasn't as scary as I'd hoped, but it was appropriate for October reading. Still pretty good.

The best Palahniuk book I've read thus far. I like it because if you read it a certain way, the story has an optimistic side, and I like that, because usually his work is depressing as hell (being transgressive fiction and all that). And some of the relationships in this story seemed to written from the heart; they were too real. Of course there were parts that were still horribly disgusting and graphic and that's just how Palahniuk books go. But it was really good.

It was okay but not my favorite. Possibly because it was a bit below my age level...

I love reading about the 1950s, so even though this book was a bit dry, I actually really liked all the subject content. Especially the part about housewives in the 1950s suffering from feelings of inadequacy in their lives... I've always loved the darker undertones of the so-called "perfect suburban life".

I love all the mystery and random coincidence in this novel; the storyline is flawless.
